Installation of Sod, sprinkler work and landscape work can be started 24 hours after installation however, caution must be taken as shovels, picks and wheelbarrows can damage the curb for several more days while it is fully curing. Keep pets, children and objects away from the curb for at least 24 hours. The Irrigation backwash from pools, condensate lines or rain can damage the curb. Make sure sprinkler systems do not come on for at least 24 hours. Things to Watch out for While Concrete is Curing When this occurs, lift out the broken section of curbing, cut and remove the root that is doing the damage and lay the curb back down using fill dirt as support. Over time, tree roots may lift and break some areas of your curbing. If we installed the curb charges will be minimal as a customer appreciation gesture. We can return after the cement has fully cured to apply a more glossy sealer however this is not included in the install price. Sealer should be applied and maintained to prevent damage to the curb. Although glossy at first, this sealer will result in a matte finish over time. It slows the process of curing which helps prevent cracking. The sealer that is used on your concrete during installation is a sealer with 20-30% acrylic solid. A hairline crack is much less noticeable than a patch or discoloration in the curbing. A control joint is placed every 2-3 feet to help prevention of cracking in other spots however, if it should crack, we will replace it at no charge during the warranty period of 1 year.
